I also like that they enforced social distancing, mask usage in public space (besides in water park) and 1 family per elevator trip. My favorite part about GWL in Gurnee was the staff. If you need space and a cooking space then you might want to stay at a different resort. If you do not mind no kitchen/ hotel room- this is an excellent family chose. Since we have been to another Great Wolf Lodge and my daughter LOVES IT- we knew the waterpark addmission for our 5 day stay made it a worthy trade for us otherwise we would not trade our 2 bedroom week stay for a 5 night hotel room. As a timeshare exchange I would not consider it a great value since most other timeshares are 1 bedroom or larger with kitchen and laundry facilities and here you get a standard hotel room- with 2 beds (or 1 king), coffee maker, and mini fridge but no cooking/microwave, etc. THe waterpark admission is included in the booking but all other activities are add ons. If you are familiar with Great Wolf Lodge then you know this is a great family vacation option with a water park, magi quest game, arcade, build a bear, and small mini golf/bowling all on site. Two kids almost drowned during our stay there and lifeguards were unaware. They offered us to pay $79 for 3 extra hours in the room so we can check out at 2 pm instead of 11 am but we didn't think it was worth it. We didn't order food from the lodge because it was expensive and we had to eat in the car. Since we only had the room for the night only the next day we had to leave the Waterpark to eat. It's $3 minimum for any drink including water and $4.99 for a 2 liter. You have to take the food to your room but you can drink in the Waterpark. There’s no food allowed in the Waterpark even though there are restaurants in the Waterpark. I didn't have to wait in line thanks to the app. I communicated with front desk and was able to order breakfast and my coffee through the app. The Great Wolf Lodge app is a life saver.
We had to go down to get our Dunkin Donuts. I ordered the breakfast package for $55 for 5 people and they brought it up to the room due to COVID-19. So it's small but we had a sofa bed so it was fine. It said on the website that it was 2 queen beds but it was a double bed. The wave wasn't activated at the Waterpark. There is no dryer at the hotel so bring extra swim suits. It was cheaper to stay at the lodge vs thr Groupon which was offering $199 for 4 Waterpark passes. The ambiance was nice and you could do storytime with the Wolf mascot and they have activities and arcade for kids. They offered 50% off if I book 2 nights after I completed my stay but it was still over $240/night so it's expensive. I booked the Family Suite for $245 for one night on their website for 30% off.
